WELCOME TO THE ELECTRONIC NEWSLETTER ON THE FIGHT AGAINST CYBERCRIME

Cybercrime has increased enormously during the first years of the twenty-first century. The attacks are deeper, and the methods used change rapidly – so rapidly, that the legislation is not always available to deal with new methods of committing crime, and judges, lawyers and prosecuting authorities have a difficulty in keeping up-to-date with sufficient knowledge to deal with cybercrime.

Technological threats may reach us from anywhere around the world, and it has become imperative to unify and share the experience, knowledge, best practices and legislation across the globe.

To this end, Cybex and the European Commission’s Directorate of Freedom, Security and Justice, are co-financing a pioneer project which aims to have an international effect on dealing effectively with such cyber threats.

This Cybex initiative is named “Electronic Newsletter on the fight Against Cybercrime” (ENAC). A free monthly e-Newsletter that will tackle those topics directly connected to cybercrime, including, but not limited to, the use of electronic evidence as a procedural tool to adduce evidence of crimes in court, the essential role of computer forensics as a necessary procedure to obtain electronic evidence and in proving cybercrime, as well as acting as a mechanism to facilitate the co-operation between all of those involved in cybercrime in order to thwart the progression of such threats.

Due to the wide expectation the ENAC has aroused, and the collaboration of our partners (currently more than 50 reaching more than 30 countries), we will provide the ENAC in English, Spanish, Russian and possibly in Chinese, with the objective of providing a worldwide platform that compliments other providers of information, in relation to all kinds of new information relating to effectively dealing with cybercrime, technological updates, law enforcement methods, institutional actions to prevent cybercrime, to collect legislation and case law, and to publicize any kind of event associated to cybercrime and forensics.

The target public of this online publication is mostly judges, technicians, prosecutors, lawyers, computer forensics specialists, human resources, jurists, law enforcement bodies, and any person that deals with electronic evidence and seeks to prevent cybercrime.

The first issue of the e-Newsletter will be available on July 1st 2009.

You are welcome to subscribe to the ENAC and/or to collaborate as a partner to disseminate the e-Newsletter.
